The Death of Christ; The Greatest Love

Caption: The Cost of Love is Death – The Death

John 3:16 – For God so love the world that He gave His only son, that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 15:13 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

1John 3:16 – We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.

God showed us so much love by giving us His son to die for us his people. This he did so we can be saved and have abundant life.

The cost of love is death because it took the death of Savior Jesus Christ to achieve the purpose of love. What is the purpose of love? The purpose of love was to purchase us for God. To purchase means to buy. God sowed His son as a seed in order to get many sons unto Himself.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the glory that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame

Jesus desired the full manifestation of His essence as the Christ to be fully revealed in us; in order for God to have many sons in glory. Jesus would then be the first born among many brethren. He wanted us to all be for God and for that to happen, He knew He had to pay the price; the cost of Love’s demand.

The commandment to love is the greatest commandment and the most difficult commandment God ever gave. This is because love always carries a price tag which often includes sacrifice of self, ego. It’s easy to love someone who you are sure loves you because the joy of being loved becomes for you, a reward in itself. God’s demonstration and demand of love goes beyond this. God’s demonstration and demand for love goes to the indifferent, the stranger, the seemingly unlovable, even the downright hateful and spiteful. Would you love and continue to love those people that constantly spitefully treat you.

1John 3:16We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.

The cost of love is death, laying down our life, our ego, our priorities, money, time etc. We are asked to lay down our lives for the brethren.
