Theme: Rising Stars

Ministering: Pastor E.A Adeboye

Lift up your hands to the Almighty God and Bless His Holy Name. Give Him Glory, honour and adoration for He’s worthy to be praised.

Prayer for those in the Academic world: Father, you are the source of wisdom, give these your children wisdom.

Father, the year is coming to an end, don’t let me come to an end.

Father, whatever the enemy may try, let me see the new year

1 Corinthian 15:41 – There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory – The two important words are  Stars and Rising Stars.

A Star is someone who is outstanding in whatever he does – we have football star, movie star, academic star. When we talk about academics, we have students that are dull, we have students that are average, students that are “let my people go”. Then we have students who are clever and those who are brilliant. The world brilliant is a combination of two words: light and bright – it is another word for star.

When you talk about stars – when you gather stars, you will know that stars differs from stars.

I pray for someone here today, your star will shine

Scientifically, a star is nothing but a burning gas, the hotter it gets the brighter – the sun is the dullest of all stars, it is 149.6 million kilometers from the earth, yet it is hot enough to warm the whole earth. Scriptural, a Star is somebody who realises he is nothing but inside of him is the consuming fire. The day you realise that without God you are nothing, you become a star – Colossians 1:27

The basic problem of those in the academics is that there is always a tendency to forget that you are not a star unless you realise you are gas and a gas is almost empty – that is why JESUS said “without me you can do nothing” – John 15:5

Rising means going upward – The bible says star differs from star in glory – 2 Corn 3:18

When you are talking about rising star from God’s perspective – God is talking about those who are willing to burn for Him – e.g Shedreach, Meshach, and Abednego

When we talk about a rising star – Phil 3:12-14 -Paul gave us an illustration.

The world rising means there are possibilities; means a Star can be stagnant, going upward, and falling.

A star can fall – 2 Samuel 1:1-19

I pray for all of you who are already stars, you will never fall.

An example of a rising star is David – 1 Samuel 16:1-13 David was made a king among his brethen. 2 Samuel 2:1-4 – David was made king over the tribe of Judah. 2 Samuel 5:1-3 He became king over Israel.

In Matthew 25 – The man who worked with the five talents given to him to get an additional five, got one extra.

If you are under the God Almighty, when He picks you up the sky is not your limit, your limit is in heaven.

When a star is stagnant, the star will cease to be – like the story of the man who had one talent and didn’t make use of fit, the talent was taken from him. If God has made you a star is you are meant to shine.

An example of a falling star is Saul – he was humble before he became king, when he became king he became proud –  1 Samuel 15.

I pray for all of you who are already a star –  you will remain a star forever.

The only true star that will rise is a star that is glued to the Almighty God.

It is a beautiful thing to know that a star who falls to the ground can rise again if he realises his mistakes and return to God.

Daniel 4 – Nebuchadnezzar was a star; ruler of the whole world. He became proud and God dealt with him seven years. After seven years God reached out to him and restored him back to his kingdom.

Decree: Everyone in need of mercy will receive it this morning.

It doesn’t matter how low you have gone, if God steps in, you can rise again.

I want all of us to realise one thing, the Almighty God who made you wants you to be a star, without him you are nothing. It is when you are in Him that you find yourself rising.

The day you forget that God is the one in charge, He would wipe you out.

If you are not yet connected to God, you better connect to Him, if you want to keep rising.

Prayer: Father, let my star keeps rising, don’t let my light become darkness.
