The Light Impacts Daily Devotional – RELUCTANT OBEDIENCE

For some years, I have been battling with the above subject matter. While I believe that partial or half obedience is no obedience at all, what about the reluctant obedience? Truth the truth, it’s good to willingly & diligently obey God as He speaks and instructs per time. Moses partially obeyed God when the Israelites were about entering the promised land, it caused him his life. What about prophet Balaam and the Israelites?

This caption reminds me of how we used to reluctantly obey our parents & elders when we’re growing up due to our commitment to other things like watching TV or playing with our friends. I can still remember how we used to raise our shoulders (gun’jika or gun ejika in Yoruba language) against an elderly instructions and yet in the same manner carried out the instructions reluctantly. We’ll thereafter be at peace with the elderly instructor when the instruction is obeyed, though reluctantly.

I pray the Holy Spirit explains my analogy to every reader more in Jesus name. In this short series, I’ll be sharing a personal experience I had in 2012 during my service to God & my nation in Ondo state, Nigeria. It will bless you. But let me leave you with Deut 28:1: *”And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:”

You are Graced.

Action cue: Has God told you to do anything even when it doesn’t make sense to you but it’s in line with His Word? Please do & do it well.
