Word of the day: Proverbs 17:9 – The Sole of Friendship

Proverbs 17:9 – NKJV – He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends.

Proverbs 17:9 – NLT – Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.

Proverbs 17:9 – AMP – He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, But he who repeats or gossip about a matter separates intimate friends.

Proverbs 17:9 – GNB – If you want people to like you, forgive them when they wrong you. Remembering wrongs can break up a friendship.

Key: Forgiveness is the sole of friendship. If you are struggling with keeping hold of friends it’s because, rather than overlooking offenses you dwell on them (Although there are friends you should desist from…read Proverbs 26:18, Proverbs 22:24-25, I Cor.15:33). Offending another is the nature of man because he is not perfect. Learn to forgive.

Action: Are you finding it hard to forgive someone who has wronged you? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you so you can let go of the burden.(Forgiveness is one of the fruits of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23)
